Can we eat pregnant seafood?
Pregnant and shellfish fan… Will you have to deprive
yourself of your favorite foods for the next 9 months? During my pregnancy, I
of course asked myself the question. So I did some research on the subject to
be sure whether or not I could eat pregnant seafood.
Eating shellfish during pregnancy presents real risks if you
eat them without respecting a few basic rules. Ideally, buying them fresh,
eating them well cooked, handling them and keeping them under strict hygienic
conditions is enough to enjoy them, even when pregnant.

What do we mean by seafood?
The expression "seafood" includes a multitude of
foods but they are mainly marine invertebrate animals and plants found in the
sea. can pregnant women eat crab? Most often, we eat them in the form of
"fruit platter de mer ”, offering an assortment of cooked and raw seafood.
We think in particular of cold shellfish served on a bed of ice.
To name only the main ones: scallops of course, scallops,
mussels, oysters, clams, conch, squid, winkles, whelks, conch here in
Guadeloupe, absolutely delicious!
The term "crustaceans" includes shrimp of course,
crab, langoustines, lobster, spider crabs and the cicada that I discovered here
in Guadeloupe. Its flesh is even more subtle than that of lobster!
Finally on the side of the sea urchins we should not also
forget to mention the starfish.
